Steve Sanchez's blog and why I will no longer post there

As some of you may know, Comfort's stupid "180" propaganda piece was released today. Steve Sanchez at Stone the Preacher started pimping the movie and instantly started censoring the critical comments. He will not allow ANY posts that refute or debunk the movie.

My reply to the post was the following:
"Steve, I watched this movie a few weeks ago. I am simply not convinced. The whole argument is based on the flawed premise that a clump of cells is a human being. By that rational, a finger when chopped off, is a human being. Cells does not a human make. Humans have a personality and consciousness. A fetus hasn't had and of those things. What does bother me the most in this video is how badly the education system has failed these people. Lack of historical knowledge and very very poor critical thinking skills."

This is what edited my post to read:

"[FULL DISCLOSURE: This atheist's comment has been edited for content and taken I have taken it out of its original context. I left in the parts of the comment that demonstrate compassion.]

"This will be my last comment on the blog until Steve posts my comment in its original, unedited form or deletes the hack job he did.
Unlike Ray and the others, I thought you might have been a better person, Steve. But I now see the frightened person you really are. Makes me sad, Steve."

This is the edited version by Steve:

"[FULL DISCLOSURE: This atheist's comment has been edited for content and I have taken it out of its original context. I left in the parts of the comment that demonstrate compassion.]
This will be my last comment on the blog…. "

"I feel sorry for all the mothers who were forced to make that decision. I do not understand why you would want to take that decision away, when by the same logic your deity kills far more than abortion through miscarriages."

Steve edited the post to this:

"[FULL DISCLOSURE: This atheist's comment has been edited for content and I have taken it out of its original context. I left in the parts of the comment that demonstrate compassion.]I feel sorry for all the mothers…."

Clearly these posts have been edited to not allow discussion and some even changed to appear to support the movie.

Steve, if you are reading this, what you did was wrong. Very wrong. It is dishonest to alter the words of another person like that and then make it seem that their original words were mean spirited.

I don't care if you think ending abortion by any means necessary is the right thing to do. It's not. The ends NEVER justify the means.

Brain failure and the Christian....

Ray Dumfort wrote the other day about how the human heart supposedly proves god because we can't yet duplicate it.

But once again Dumfort is a plagiarist and a LIAR. His entire post is stolen from a MUSLIM site. http://www.harunyahya.com/books/science/biomimetics/biomimetics07.php

So, Ray is now a muslim???

Ray, you are a fucking idiot. You can't prove your god with your own religion so you steal from someone else's?  Why doesn't that shock me?

Guest Blogger: Ray Comfort!!!

Today Ray Comfort shares with us how to stop abortions:

Take it away, Ray!

Hello everyone!

This is my argument to make you change your mind about abortion.

Hitler was a bad person. I don't even have to give him the good person test to know that.... because Hitler was a bad person, no one should have abortions for any reason. And please send me your money.

Ray Comfort, about a year ago, was crowing about how great his god was when he "saved" the 33 miners trapped underground in Chile.

It seems his god forgot about those poor miners. 60 Minutes did a show on them tonight and they are in BAD shape. All are suffering from mental illness, nightmares, insomnia, panic attacks, etc.

"Alex Vega can't explain why he's doing it, but he's building a wall around his house.

"Whenever I hear a noise, I get scared and look all around me. My heart beats faster. I can't go into small spaces. I'm taking five or six pills a day now. If I don't take them, I wouldn't even be able to sit with you," Vega said"

"I'm an underground mining mechanic. That's what I do and I won't be able to do it anymore," Vega replied.

Asked what he wants to do, Vega said, "I've tried to work fixing a car. But I lose my concentration very quickly. I forget things. Right now, I don't know what's gonna happen with my future."

And Victor Zamora? He walked with us to the mine. It was his first time back since the accident. He told us he feels he still hasn't been rescued.

"Before I went in here, I was a happy guy. But now, I'm having nightmares, I'm having problems. I'm not the same person," Zamora told Simon.

Asked what kind of nightmares he is having, Zamora said, "Being trapped, watching my friends around me die. Rocks falling. The other me is still in there."

"Do you miss him?" Simon asked.

Zamora nods. "I can't have a normal relationship with my family...I'm not as affectionate with my child as I was before. It's very difficult," he replied.

"What's it like just looking at this place now?" Simon asked.

"Sadness, lots of sadness. I'd prefer to be dead," he replied.

Where is your God now, Ray??

It's amazing how arrogant fundamentalists are....

The bible promotes humility and that's one thing fundies aren't. Think about your god for a moment. He is infinitely smarter than you. Infinitely more powerful than you. His creation is infinitely larger than you and will be here much longer than your insignificant life.

Yet you think your god is actively interested in your meaningless little life and does things for you even though just thinking about your life is like you watching Growing Pains reruns for eternity and no hope of any new episodes.... ever. You cant help but be infinitely boring to him.

This god giving a crap about you and your life is akin to you taking a personal interest in the life of a termite living in Kenya.... And making sure it has enough wood to eat... And keeping the local ant eater out of it's way. Would you ever think about adopting a termite in Kenya? Of course not! So why would your god give a rat's ass about you and wether or not you make it to Safeway and back in one piece? It doesn't make the slightest lick of sense. To think that god give a crap about you is the supreme arrogance. It's not humility.

Atheism and evolution are FAR more humble than Christianity and Creationism. We live in a universe that doesn't know or care about us. It has no personality. It has no intentions. It's a cold heartless universe. But that's not a thing to be sad about. This is also the story of our triumph! We have carved out a little niche here and called it home. We have survived and become the dominate species on this planet despite "it's attempts" to kill us now and then. Are are insignificant specks who exist here for a blink of the universe's eye. That is humility.

Something to watch for with some fundies....

Fundies like Dumbass Comfort and his ilk love to change the meaning of words. For instance, the word "good" in Comforteese is redefined as "perfect".  "Evolution" is redefined to include the big bang, abiogenesis, and proof requirements for evolution that if true, would actually disprove evolution.

Another favorite is "faith" = "trust". This is not so. Trust is earned and based on a track record. Faith is given blindly and in spite of evidence.

These word games can trip you up if you don't watch out for them.

New Atheist focused movie!!

Is this the Brokeback Mountain moment for atheists? The Ledge is the first drama in Hollywood history to feature an openly atheist hero in a story about religious conflict.

The Ledge is the first film in Hollywood history that puts an atheist into the hero role in a production that features A-list stars. It is written and directed by Matthew Chapman, the great-great-grandson of Charles Dawin, the scientist who discovered evolution, the biggest challenge to religion since Gallileo. The film was nominated for Best US Drama at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and stars Charlie Hunnam, Sons of Anarchy, Liv Tyler, Lord of the Rings, Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe nominee, Patrick Wilson, Watchmen, and Oscar nominee Terrence Howard, Crash, Iron Man.
On the rooftop of a city skyscraper, Detective Hollis (Terrence Howard) pleads with Gavin (Charlie Hunnam) not to jump. What he does not know is that Gavin, an atheist, is involved in a deadly feud with Joe (Patrick Wilson), a Christian extremist. Joe's wife, Shana, (Liv Tyler) is caught in the middle as Joe seeks to test Gavin's faith or lack of it. Cutting between the present and the past, tension escalates as verbal shots give way to deadly threats in a race against time that neither God nor the police can stop. Along the way, the film provocatively explores the intellectual and emotional conflicts between religion and atheism.

The movie is available to watch NOW on iTunes and OnDemand!
