"The bridge is out and you are about to die!"

Steve Sanchez and other Christians frequently make the claim that they are trying to warn you about hell the same way a normal person would warn someone else about a bridge being out on the road you are driving.

He claims to be warning you about the impending doom....

But there is a serious problem with his little analogy. When we stop and listen to his evidence about the "bridge being out" we look at the maps and see no bridge, no river, no water. We call the local police and ask when about this bridge and they are confused telling us there is no bridge within 20 miles of where he claims this bridge is! Ariel photos tell the same story, no bridge! Every expert tells the same story that not only is there no bridge out, but there is no bridge at all!

This is a common analogy for Christians claiming to spread the gospel. It's a bullshit analogy that should be ignored and ridiculed when heard.

The only bridge that is out is the one in Steve's head.

A great comedy show!

The Evolution of Comedy is an awesome show!  I saw it a few nights ago in Sunnyvale, Ca at Rooster T. Feathers  and loved every bit of it!

Question for Genesis literalists

I would love to hear the explanation for this that just isn't patently absurd.

Most "young earth creationists" (YECs) claim that there was no death in the world before the "fall of man" when Adam and Eve sinned. As a direct result of this concept, all creatures, including man were vegetarians.

This causes a number of questions that I have never heard a sufficient answer to.

1. How do you explain that all plants are living things and would be killed the moment they were eaten and digested? 
2. Why would Adam and Eve and all the other animals have to eat at all if there was no death? 
3. What would have happened to them if they didn't eat before the "fall"?
4. A number of creatures can only live from dead or decaying matter. When were they created?
5. When were viruses created? Bacteria? Fungi?
6. Why use would vipers and spiders have for venom? Heat sensing pits? Webs? 

That's just to start, but I am sure we can go on and on should anyone have plausible answers. 

"You were a false convert" and other dumb statements

I am sure many ex-christians have heard this accusation from christians before: "You were not a True-Christian™"  If I had a dollar for every time some christian laid that line on me, I would be very wealthy. What christians don't understand is how insulting it is to say that to a former believer.

Or another of my favorites: "You don't believe in god because you love your sin too much." While not quite as insulting, it is a dumbass question. What do they expect us to say? "Well, I just love raping babies and pillaging towns. And well, my day just isn't complete without a few 'goddamn this and goddamn thats.'"

Or the assumption that the reason we stopped being Christians is that cue someone in the church hurt us or we lost someone.

These claims are moronic and small minded. They deny the absolute truth that people can and do leave the church and the religion because we simply cease to believe the same garbage they still do believe.

Romans 1 says "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse," (Romans 1:20 NKJV). This is pure bullshit. If it was true, then Christianity or some version of it would have spontaneously come into existence all over the world. Clearly this is not the case.

There are plenty of reasons not to believe in your god. If you don't like it, then tough shit. It's not a reason for your insulting baseless claims.

Ken Ham is a lying twit

Ken Ham claims that evolution, even if given billions of years, has no chance of working.

He tries to make it simple.

"Darwin’s idea × billions of years × 0 (chance of actually happening) = 0."

He is dishonest as he does accept so called "microevolution" but denies so called "macroevolution". He does accept microevolution as he would be daft not to, but he is equally daft to not accept macroevolution.

What is "Darwin's Idea"? “Darwin argued that macroevolution is just microevolution writ large, or that the process we see and study as the cause of microevolution will, given sufficient time, also cause everything that we attribute to macroevolution.” (Travis and Reznick 2009, p. 126).

Pastor promotes bigotry and child abuse!

Reverend Sean Harris, the senior pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, tells parents to physically assault young children who may appear gay or effeminate. Then gives special dispensation for the assault.

TRANSCRIPT:

 "So your little son starts to act a little girlish when he is four years old and instead of squashing that like a cockroach and saying, "Man up, son, get that dress off you and get outside and dig a ditch, because that is what boys do," you get out the camera and you start taking pictures of Johnny acting like a female and then you upload it to YouTube and everybody laughs about it and the next thing you know, this dude, this kid is acting out childhood fantasies that should have been squashed.

Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male and you are going to be a male. And when your daughter starts acting to Butch you reign her in. And you say, "Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play them to the glory of God. But sometimes you are going to act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl and smell like a girl and that means you are going to be beautiful. Now, to be fair, this asshole has issued a "retraction" and a half-assed "apology", but it is completely clear that this man is violently anti-LGBT who used the bible to justify his bigotry and hatred.



No, it has nothing to do with the election of your NC constitution. It has to do with your complete intolerance and inability to understand that people are BORN that way. They don't choose to be LGBT. We [the public at large] are sick and tired of bigots like you telling others that they must conform to what your bronze age book tells them they should be.

I will make a prediction though. I have noticed the "sins" that preachers preach most vehemently against are the things they struggle with the most. I suspect this preacher will be in the head lines again soon... under arrest for lewd acts in public.

Peter Popoff miracle requires witchcraft??

I got a letter from Christian evangelist Peter Popoff today.

It reminds me of the "bloody Mary" chant pre-teens would do in the bathroom to scare themselves.
