Without Genesis . . . Our Children Learn the Bible Cannot Be Trusted

When our church leaders teach believers, especially youth, that Genesis 1–11 is untrustworthy, they are teaching (unwittingly or not) that the Word of God is not authoritative. While it may seem hard to believe that the denial of 11 chapters from just one of the 66 books of Scripture could have such a negative impact on people, it has been confirmed by the research presented in Ken’s book, Already Gone. Two-thirds of our children are leaving the church by the time they reach college age. And the majority of them do not believe that Genesis 1–11 is accurate or reliable. Church leaders’ compromise on Genesis, including their incorporation of evolution and millions of years, is teaching our children that the Word of God lacks authority—and our children suffer the most from the results of such thinking.

 No shit?  Really?

All available evidence tells us that all of Genesis, Exodus, etc is untrustworthy as it doesn't fit any of the available facts. The lack of collaborating evidence is astounding! Normally absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but in this case, the astonishing lack of evidence is not just evidence of absence, but conclusive!

We can conclude that the if the god of the Christian bible is as he is described in the bible, then he doesn't exist!

These kids are not leaving because they don't believe in Genesis, but because they discovered you have been lying to them about the lack of congruence between the bible and reality! They are not suffering from the results of this discovery, but being freed from your archaic superstition and hopefully finding the real world far more interesting than your fables and myths!

More republicans believe in demonic possession than climate change?? WTF??

A disturbing new poll reveals the majority (68%) of registered Republican voters believe that demonic possession is a real phenomenon...

According to the poll results, 49 percent of Democrats also said they believe that its possible to be possessed by demons. Overall, only 35 percent of the 1,200 registered voters polled -- including Independent voters and others -- said that demon possession is an impossibility.

WTF is wrong with America? Really? Why is it we believe in superstitious nonsense, but we don't believe in the things science tells us about reality?

Noah brought puppet "kind" on the ark???

A recent "research journal" entry at Answers in Genesis that attempts to quantify the number of "mammalian kinds" that Noah took on his fictional ark, Dr. Jean K. Lightner, an independent scholar for AIG, classifies a puppet made by Secret Gully as a Greater gliding possum. "Fig. 18. Greater gliding possum. Source: Secret Gully http://www.secretgully.com.au."

It is unknown why Noah would have taken it on the ark or if this is the only puppet species he took on board with his family. Did he also bring marionettes and sock puppets as well? Was LambChop also on the ark? Is this one puppet's offspring responsible for all the puppets species in the world today? What is god's position on the sacrifice of puppets to atone for sins? Where do you sprinkle the stuffing? Do you remove the puppeteer's hand before or after the sacrifice?

This is his latest spew on evolution and attacking Bill Nye, a man that has done more to add to our collective knowledge and improve our society than Comfort could do in 1,000,000 lifetimes.

Evolution is unobservable. It’s based on blind faith in a few dry bones, and on unreliable dating systems in which the gullible trust. Kids should be allowed to make up their own minds about this issue, and not be censored to “one side is all we will let you hear.”

Ray is just another poor idiot leading the war on expertise. Any expert that says something that Ray doesn't agree with is automatically wrong. He is entitled to his opinion, but his opinion isn't valid nor useful. In fact it's harmful to society. Kids shouldn't be allowed to make up their own minds between "creationism" and evolution any more than they should be allowed to make up their own minds over astronomy and astrology or chemistry and alchemy.

I want to drag Ray to the LA museum of natural history and prove him wrong, but I know my efforts would be futile. He is just far too stupid to understand how wrong he is.

Mitt Romney... The stupid reveals itself!

Mitt Romney's wife Ann had a small mishap the other day when her plane had to make an emergency landing. 

I feel for the guy about his wife being in danger, but then he opened up his mouth and let the stupid roll out!

And I don’t think she knows just how worried some of us were.  When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem. So it’s very dangerous....” 

Yes, Mitt. The windows in the plane don't open and for a fucking good reason. If you opened them while flying, you would kill everyone on the plane.

Dr. Andrew Snelling from Answers in Genesis... Fraud?

Dr. Andrew Snelling from Answers in Genesis wrote today trying to answer the common rejection of his vacuous young earth - anti-evoltion claim "How could most scientists be wrong?" 

"When it comes to explaining how the rocks and fossils formed, however, those are events that occurred in the past. They can’t be repeated and observed. Thus, explanations about how rocks and fossils formed in the past are interpretations, not facts."

This is an absurd objection but it opens an interesting door. His assumptions can be tested if they only took a year!  So I challenge him to reproduce rock in less than a year using sediment.

"Sure, we can observe and study today how sediments are deposited in layers. But to say that sediments have always accumulated in the past at the rates we observe today is an assumption."

And his claims are also an assumption. But there is no reason for real geologists to assume that the rates of formation changed at all!

Ya, know what? Fuck it. His claims just are not worth responding to. They are vapid nonsense and I have wasted too many electrons on them already.
